INSPIRATION: Over the past few years there has been a significant change in high-end residences in the Mount Martha area. As we explored the area we could feel an overwhelming movement towards a more contemporary streetscape with very modern architecture. With Newport we wanted to introduce a fresh coastal feel to a traditions Hamptons-influenced luxury home that would be ideal for a buyer wanting to move to the area and experience a true coastal lifestyle.

TARGET MARKET: We envisioned that the ultimate buyer for Newport would be either a retiree seeking a relaxed coastal lifestyle in a luxury beachside home, or a city buyer looking for a stylish family holiday home by the beach.

LOCATION: We loved the location as it is within walking distance of sought after South Beach and to Mount Martha village, and because we thought the unsurfaced road added romance and a casual approach to the house.

DESIGN INTENT: Our design vision was to create a timeless street appeal that stood out from the rest of the homes in the area. With the space planning and interior design we wanted to create rooms that were full of warmth and a sense of tradition which we achieved with the lighting selection, coffered ceilings and timber windows. The end result is a feeling of old world warmth and charm that is still modern and easy to live in. My favourite parts of the home are the bathrooms, the lighting and the external chimney. All clean and modern whilst capturing the feel of the classic architectural design.
